Speaker: Eri Vokshi, Technical Sales Manager at Sika-US Speaker Bio: Eri Vokshi is a Technical Sales Manager at Sika-US. She has 14 years of experience with FRP materials and design. She holds a Master’s degree in Material Science from Arizona State University and is a professional engineer. Eri is also an active member of ICRI, ACI, SEA and the chair of ACI 440-0E subcommittee.  

Speaker: Tony Sak, PE Topic: Geotechnical Construction Techniques for Structural Rehabilitation Geotechnical Construction Techniques for Structural Rehabilitation Four geotechnical construction techniques will be described: micropiles, helical piers, and low-mobility (compaction) and polyurethane grouting. Several projects will be presented where individual or several techniques remediated geotechnical challenges to existing structures/facilities  

Speaker:  Steve Mason (Neogard Sr. Flooring Manager – Southeast Division)   Steve Mason has been in the coatings industry for over 20 plus years.  For the last 10 years he was the Dur-a-Flex Flooring Specialist in Georgia and South Carolina. He works closely with Architects, Engineers, Owners, Facilities and Contractors.  Steve brings product and specifications knowledge along with hands on experience from being on projects that includes stadiums, healthcare, schools, renovations, manufacturing, airplane hangars, animal/vet clinics and numerous other industry flooring and wall coating projects.  He also supports the Neogard deck/traffic/roof and waterproofing account managers.  

Presenter: Merissa Gamba, PE, SE Presentation Title: Georgia Tech Campus Center Case Study Bio Merissa has over 20 years of experience in a wide variety of projects. She joined Uzun + Case in 1999 and was named a Principal in 2018. Her project experience includes higher education, institutional, public use, commercial, and mixed use developments. She likes the challenge of unusual and complicated projects such as the Georgia and Mississippi aquariums, Kennesaw State Recreation Center and Parcel A at 760 Ralph McGill Blvd. Presentation Summary This presentation starts with a basic introduction to the Georgia Tech Campus Center program. The presentation will then briefly cover the newly constructed buildings and their features. The presentation will then focus on the retrofitting of the late 1960’s existing concrete framed building. The program will wrap up with a discussion of some challenges and lessons learned.

Presenter: Jeff Malpass, PE  Presentation Title: Complete Building Envelope: Post Tension System Repair   Bio Jeff Malpass is a licensed Professional Engineer & General Contractor and has been involved in different aspects of the construction industry throughout his career. For the last 20 years he has been concentrating on the concrete repair and restoration landscape, working with concrete, repair mortars, epoxy and polyurethane injection, FRP (carbon, glass) strengthening, post-tension repairs (Level 2 Certified), shotcrete, waterproofing, and cathodic protection. Jeff, as Valcourt’s Director of Technical Services is a firm believer that technician training is the key to successful repairs and that safety is always job #1. Presenter: Craig Bennett Jr., PE, SE, RP-APT Presentation Title: Repairing Historic Concrete, Masonry, and Other Weird Materials   Bio Craig Bennett, Jr., PE, SE, RP-APT is the founder and president of Bennett Preservation Engineering PC in Charleston. He has over 30 years of experience in structural engineering, with a deep focus on historic preservation. He has worked on projects across the east coast and Caribbean, including projects from the 17th and 18th centuries. He is currently adjunct faculty in the Clemson University Grade Program in Historic Preservation, and has been published multiple times, including in Structure Magazine.   Presentation Summary Structural work for historic preservation always involves unusual tasks. In this presentation, Craig Bennett shows examples of repair work on 100-year-old concrete, 175-year-old brick masonry, and 200-year-old tabby. The talk is profusely illustrated with photographs from the work.
