GA-ICRI SCHOLARSHIPS

The Georgia Chapter of the International Concrete Repair Institute (GA-ICRI) will award up to $4,500.00 in scholarship(s) to either a local Undergraduate/Graduate College Student or a direct family member of a current GA ICRI Chapter Member in good standing.

 The mission of ICRI is to improve the quality of repair, restoration, and protection of concrete and other structures. This student scholarship program helps us complete this mission by recruiting new resources in talent, ideals, and youthful energy. To this end, we are proud to offer this educational scholarship to qualified students who are pursuing post-secondary education.

Qualification:

  1. Undergraduate/Graduate Students attending school full-time in the state of Georgia. At the time of application, the applicant shall be pursuing a degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, material science, or any other relevant degree. Verification of enrollment is required.
  2. Direct Family Member of a current GA-ICRI Chapter Member in Good Standing, attending school full time and pursuing a degree from an accredited college/university. Verification of enrollment is required.
  3. As a condition of accepting this scholarship, the applicant is encouraged to:
      1. Give a 10-minute presentation at one of the monthly Georgia Chapter of ICRI luncheons. The topic of the presentation may be the student’s research or other area of interest related to the concrete industry.
      2. Participate in the promotion of ICRI at the student’s institution. This may include participation in or the formation of a student chapter of ICRI at her/his institution, provide a presentation about ICRI to fellow students at their institution, assist in coordinating an outreach project through the Georgia Chapter of ICRI, or other activities that promote the mission of ICRI.
      3. Join as a Student Member of Georgia Chapter of ICRI (The local chapter will cover your membership dues by re-imbursement).

 

Award:

  1. The education committee will review all responses and select candidates to award up to $4,500 in total available chapter scholarship funds for 2023.
  2. Scholarship award(s) will be presented at the Annual Holiday Party for the Georgia Chapter. Free entry will be provided to the award winner with a plus one.

Scholarship Award at Holiday Party……………December 8, 2023 (7:00pm-10:00pm @ Terrapin Taproom – The Battery Atlanta) 

 

If you are awarded the scholarship, the Georgia Chapter of ICRI will cover the attendance cost for you and one guest (parents, professor(s), etc.) for the Holiday Party and Scholarship Award Ceremony. Additional guests may attend; however, they will need to register with ICRI-GA. Upon Notice of Scholarship Award, please notify the chapter representative of your plans for attendance, along with names of the individuals. Verification of Enrollment

  1. Please submit a scanned copy of most recent transcript to review the course
    work, grades, and full-time status.

Extracurricular Activities List
2.  Submit a PDF list of all extracurricular activities you actively participate in.

Short Essay and Abstract
3.  300 words (max) short essay in PDF form. Students may choose to submit an essay that outlines their interest in concrete repair, a research topic they may be pursuing, what their experience has been like working with an immediate family member in this industry, or how this scholarship will help them with school or their career goal(s).

 

Judging Criteria

1. 50% Essay & Abstract

2. 40% GPA

3. 10% Extracurricular
