Speaker Bio’s ICRI member Robert M. Weilacher is a principal with Uzun+Case in Atlanta, Georgia.  He is a member of ACI Committee 130, Sustainability of Concrete.  He is a past president of the Georgia Chapter – ACI and former president of the Structural Engineers Association of Georgia.  He received his BS and MS in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  ICRI Member George H. Harrison currently is Principal and Group Manager of Non-Destructive Testing in the Norcross, Georgia office of UES. He currently is a voting member of both ACI Committee 302 Guide to Concrete Floor and Slab Construction and ACI Committee 332 Code Requirements for Residential Concrete. He also is past president of the Georgia Chapter ACI (2012). Graduate of Southampton College – LIU, B.S. Geology. Presentation Synopsis On February 27, 2020, the project at Eastern Wharf in Savannah suffered a fire, which quickly engulfed the several floors of wood-framed residences that were being constructed over two levels of cast-in-place concrete parking deck structure.  This presentation covers the procedure to investigate damage to the concrete structure and then repair it so the contractor could rebuild the wood framed residences on top.

Speaker Bio: David G. Tepke David G. Tepke, PE, FACI, is a Principal Engineer with SKA Consulting Engineers, Inc., in Charleston, South Carolina, USA with more than 20 years of professional experience in the concrete durability and repair industry. He specializes in structural and materials evaluation, troubleshooting, repair, and service life extension. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute, a NACE/AMPP Certified Corrosion Specialist and Protective Coating Specialist, an ACI Certified Nondestructive Testing Specialist, and an ICRI Certified Concrete Surface Repair Technician (CSRT) Inspector. Speaker Bio: Trey Thomas, PE Trey Thomas PE is a graduate of Southern Polytechnic State University and is a registered structural engineer in multiple states. Mr. Thomas has over 18 years’ experience as a structural engineer in both design and construction and has specialized in the parking structure restoration field for the last 15 years. Uniquely he has received specialized training and certification in a diverse range of technical areas that are unique to the structural profession including: FAA Certified Drone Pilot-In-Command with Daylight Waiver, FAA Visual Observer, Level 1 Thermographer, OSHA Competent Boom Lift Operator, and SPRAT Level 2 (Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians) Industrial Rope Access Technician building climber, OSHA 30 Hour Safety Certified, and an Asbestos, Lead, and Mold Certified Sampler. Trey is a senior structural engineer with Innovative Engineering Inc. based in Atlanta and Seattle, however the firm does work all over the United States and its territories including Puerto Rico and Guam. Presenter: Dan Bigman Dan Bigman is the president of Bigman Geophysical, a company that provides applied geophysical and non-destructive testing solutions to engineers, contractors, utilities, municipalities, and government agencies. Dan received his PhD from the University of Georgia and is an expert in non-invasive subsurface mapping and 3D imaging. His projects have focused on the application of geophysics and non-destructive testing to archaeological, forensic, civil, and structural engineering problems including condition assessments of critical infrastructure such as nuclear facilities, bridges, hydroelectric dams, and industrial storage and processing facilities. The results of this work have been published in the scientific journals Water, Remote Sensing, and Case Studies in Construction Materials. Dan has conducted geophysical investigations, structural inspections, and technical workshops across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and is currently an associate editor for the Journal of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics.

Presentation Title: Essential Life Extension- Major Rehabilitation of the Main Parking Structures at the World’s Busiest Airport Speaker: Alex Katz Alex Katz is a Licensed Professional and Structural Engineer in Walker Consultants’ Atlanta office. He holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin where he performed research in prestressed concrete bridge girders. Alex manages a wide variety of structural assessment and repair projects for Walker Consultants. He enjoys taking on projects across a variety of structure types, providing his clients with innovative solutions, and forming relationships with colleagues in the repair industry. Alex has served as a Member of ACI Committee 563, “Specifications for Repair of Concrete in Buildings.” He is currently serving on ICRI Committee 210, “Evaluation” and sits on the Board for the ICRI Georgia Chapter. In addition to structural assessment and repair, Alex has also performed façade restoration services including rope access assessments skyscraper façades for a little more excitement.

Presentation Title: Mineral Silicate Finishes Speaker: George Arnold Keim George Arnold is a graduate of UNC Charlotte and started his career in the construction industry when he opened the Carolinas territory for Hydrozo Coatings (now a part of Sika). In 1990 George purchased an existing manufacturer’s representative agency and, to provide building enclosure solutions more effectively, merged with another agency in 2001. Over the years George has provided numerous presentations, with a focus on Masonry and Building Envelope Solutions, to Architectural and Engineering Firms as well as to Industry Associations.
