SUMMARY:ICRI – GA Chapter October Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Speaker Bio: Ahmad HazimehThe Euclid Chemical Company \nAhmad is the Business Development Manager for the Southeastern region at Euclid Chemical\, with 9 years of experience in structural restoration. Specializing in design\, assessment\, and material selection\, he collaborates with engineers\, architects\, and contractors to deliver high-quality solutions for complex projects\, ensuring proper specifications and enhancing structural integrity and longevity. Ahmad is a member of ICRI Committee 210 – Evaluation and Committee 320 – Concrete Repair Materials and Methods. He recently relocated to Atlanta\, GA. \nPresentation Title \nThe Impact of Corrosion on Shear Connectors in Double Tee Slabs and Its Role in the Deterioration of Precast Parking Garages \nSynopsis: This presentation explores the impact of corrosion on shear connectors in double tee slabs and its role in the deterioration of precast parking garages. Shear connectors are vital for maintaining structural integrity\, but exposure to de-icing salts\, moisture\, and other corrosive agents significantly compromises their effectiveness. We examine corrosion mechanisms\, structural implications\, and the weakening of load-bearing capacity\, along with evaluating detection methods and mitigation strategies. The findings highlight the need for proactive design\, construction\, and maintenance practices to prevent corrosion\, thereby enhancing the durability and safety of precast parking structures. \n
