IBC 2012 Provisions for Adhesive Anchoring into Concrete

Twenty-nine members and guests attended the March 27 Georgia Chapter meeting at Maggiano’s Perimeter, Atlanta. The meeting commenced with a safety message and  invocation. An outstanding lunch buffet was provided for all including baked ziti by special request. Past presidents were recognized and guests were introduced.

Kevin gave an outstandingly interesting presentation on the topic. He discussed the new code provisions for post-installed adhesive anchors set forth by IBC 2012 and a brief explanation on the reason for the new provisions. He provided attendees an overview of, and detailed discussion on, the relevant code sections and referenced standards related to the proper design, specification, testing, installation and inspections of adhesive anchor products.

The meeting was sponsored by Sika. Mr. Ron Thomas featured some outstanding products and updated the chapter on their manufacturing expansion in Atlanta.

President Keith Howard was proud to award several members plaques of appreciation for their outstanding service to the chapter and the industry. Don Goldstein, Howard Allread, and Bob Terpening were given awards for the prior years’ service as board members.

BTERP_AwardBob Terpening was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award- Crystal Trophy. This is the first and only Lifetime Achievement Award issued by the Georgia Chapter. Bob was recognized for his unwavering support and service to both our chapter and the national organization. Bob has both served and advised the Georgia Chapter since its inception and was the chapter president in 1996 and the national president in 1994. The chapter is truly blessed to have Bob as an active member and has truly benefited from Bob’s dedication, guidance, and service.

At the end of the meeting, Speaker Kevin Davenport was presented with a scale model Kenworth concrete truck and a raffle was conducted for the Scholarship fund. Meeting Sponsor Ron Thomas, Sika, also gave away a door prize.
